Frequently Asked Questions
What has your attendance been? Our daytime Medieval and Pirate events have ranged from 100-1400/day, depending on weather.
Are you accepting applications for 2019? Yes. We are taking applications. Please see the Vendor page on this website for an application and guidelines. If you have questions, contact us for more information at TNMedievalFaire@gmail.com or (865) 376-0319
If I was a vendor for previous shows, do I have to re-apply? Yes, all vendors need to apply, so we maintain current contact info, product quality and diversity, and keep vendors who work well with the show.
Is the Faire handicap Accessible? We have handicap parking at the entrance. So, in that way the festival is handicap accessible. However the grounds are 5-8 acres of newly created, outdoor park (previously a forest and brush dump) to make a Medieval-styled village. There are no concrete or paved walkways. Since East Tennessee has hills, there is a rolling topography the grounds. We are working hard to create a good experience for everyone, but the grounds are more like a rugged hiking trail and are not a paved theme park.
How much money should I bring to the Faire? Tickets currently include TN sales tax of 9.5% and are $16-$17 (ages 13+) and $8 (age 5-12) and can be purchased on show days for cash or credit. Festival drink tickets can be purchased (water is $2, soda is $3, Beer is $5). Food and craft vendors are separate businesses--all accept cash, most accept credit. Food ranges from $8 - $12 for a major item. For crafts, each vendor will have a range. Small items $5 - $10, necklaces $20 and up, and it goes up from there. So, you could spend a little, or a lot. Plus if you like an actor or an act, they ask for tips.
Can I come as a fairy? Yes, patrons may come dressed as they wish, as long as the costume is family-friendly.
Can I wear a sword or dagger? We do not allow ammo, loaded guns or cannons, even with a carry permit (unless you are authorized festival security.) However, we allow stage (dull) weapons if they are sheathed and zip-tied so the blade cannot be removed. There will be NO sharp or exposed blades, unchoreographed or play "fights" by patrons with any weapon (unarmed, sticks, wooded swords....). Our motto is "Safety First!"
Can I bring my pet? We allow service animals only. Please leave all other animal friend(s) at home. Not all pets like each other, and some do not like other people. We want everyone to feel comfortable and be safe at our Faire.
Are there diaper changing facilities available? The Faire has privies (port-o-lets) for facilities. However there is not an official baby changing station within the gates. If parents need to go to thier car, they are to get their hand stamped at the exit gate, and re-enter at the exit by showing their stamp.
Lost and Found: Please check the info station inside the festival for misplaced items. After the show, please contact us with a description and we will work to reunite your with your item(s). DarkhorseLLC@comcast.net or (865)-376-0319. On show days, please call (865) 466-1902.
